A former staff of Owoyemi Super Store in Ogun State, Ola Adeoye, has been arrested for allegedly burgling his former employer`s office.
The SuperStore is located at Idiroko road area of Sango Ota in Ado Odo Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The Operatives of Ogun State Police Command arrested the suspect, 28, following a distress call received at Sango Ota Divisional Headquarters at about 1:45 am. It was reported that the store had been broken into.
It was gathered that based on the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Sango Ota, CSP Godwin Idehai, mobilised his men, and moved to the scene.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ogun State Command, who confirmed the arrest, said that on getting to the scene, it was discovered that the two-story building was broken into through the balcony of the second floor, and the MD’s office had been ransacked, with an attempt to break the company’s safe.
“After diligent searching, the one-man burglary squad was seen hiding in a disused water tank, from where he was promptly arrested.
“On interrogation, he confessed being a former staff of the company, and that he was sacked a month ago,” Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) said.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has directed an in-depth investigation into the antecedent of the suspect.
He also ordered that the suspect be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
