Gbongan High School Old Students Want Pioneer Principal Honoured



Old Students Association of Gbongan High School, Osun State have eulogised the roles and contributions of the pioneer principal towards the development of the school and Gbongan community at large.

The old students poured praises and encomiums on the pioneer Principal, Overseer (Dr.) Joseph Omolayo Ojeleye at a lying in state programme organised for him on Thursday at the school premises.

Likewise, prominent personalities and community leaders extolled the virtues of Dr. Ojeleye who passed on to the grave beyond recently.

The lying in state programme was accompanied with varieties of activities ranging from song of praises, eulogy and encomiums to appreciate the good life Ojeleye had lived while alive.

An illustrious son of the town and the Chairman Board of Trustee of the alumni association, Aderemi Louis Oyedele while speaking at the event, appealed to the state government to immortalise the deceased in recognition of his contributions to the development of the school and the society at large.

He specifically charged the government to rename Gbongan High School to “Ojeleye Memorial High School” to encourage others who make delight in adding values to society and humanities.

He explained that, renaming of the school as suggested above would allow all and sundry know the extent of contributions the deceased had made towards the school and Gbongan community as a whole adding that Dr. Ojeleye had by this singular efforts written his name in gold in the history of the school and community.

While admonishing the new generation to emulate Dr. Ojeleye so as to impact on their immediate environment postively, Oyedele described the deceased as a real community leader who always show interest on what to contribute to the society and not what the society will do for him.

The BOT Chairman further acknowledged his selfless service in promoting peace and harmony among the members of the society and to cap it all, his immense contributions to the developmental humanity both within and outside the country.

The Chairman, Old Students Association, Professor Adebooye Clement while speaking said the programme well deserves one adding that the programme organised in honour of the deceased as heroic.

He also charged other administrators in the society to also try and be productive in their given Societies.

He described the first principal of the school as a lettered and teacher of teachers whose memory would linger in the minds of the progressives and those who appreciate the works of a genius till eternity.

In his own message, the BOT Secretary, Mr. Michael Awodiran likened the deceased to a scarce valuable fish in the ocean and a beautiful flower that always wanted to be plucked for wisdom acquisition while on Earth.

The principals of the school, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Iyabo Farotimi and Kunle Ojeleye while speaking stressed that the contributions of late Pa Ojeleye has made the school what it is now.

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Taiwo Oluga also extolled the roles played by the pioneer Principal describing him as good builder to public service adding that he had laid good foundation for the school and the community.
