You’re Change Agents, Bishop Idahosa Admonishes Graduating Students

Arch Bishop Margaret Benson Idahosa, Chancellor, Benson Idahosa University, Edo State has charged the newly graduated 376 students of the University to see themselves as agents and ambassadors of change that would transform Nigeria and the world at large.

According to her, every graduate of Benson Idahosa University has been positively transformed to a change agent and ambassador that will transform the world so long as such person fixes his or her eyes onto Christ, the author and finisher of our faith.

Arch Bishop Mageret Idahosa gave the charge at the 18th Convocation ceremony of the University on Saturday.

She told the graduating students “as you are being awarded the various degrees of the Benson Idahosa University for which you have laboured and demonstrated due diligence, I charge you all that as you are being released into a world of which may be full of uncertainty, never abandon your identity in Christ.”

“Remember that you are change ambassadors and that the world is earnestly awaiting your manifestation, therefore you should
look unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, (Hebrews 12:2a)”

Dr. Faith E. Benson Idahosa, President of the University in his address, urged the graduands to be purpose driven in order to live a meaningful life.

According to him, the earlier you define your purpose for living, the better and more impactful your life will become.

“You can’t have a purpose driven mentality and have a dull moment, therefore, today, I pray that your vision be realigned with God’s purpose and May He guide your thoughts so that they bring glory to Him”.

Prof. Sam Guobadia, BIU Vice Chancellor, in his address recalled, “four years ago, for some five, we received these students into different programmes in our faculties of Agriculture, Arts and Education, Engineering, Law, Science and Social & Management Sciences.

“As our culture here, we groomed them academically, socially and spiritually into the men and women seated ” here today, and who are ready to make positive impacts in society.

“So, we are exceedingly happy to present and convoke 376 undergraduate (comprising 54 First Class Honours: 179 Second Class Honours-Upper Division; 135 Second Class Honours Lower-Division; and Third Class Honours) and 44 postgraduate (1 Ph.D.; 26 Masters and 17 PGDs) students who are fully educated in spirit, body and mind”.

While urging parents to always make Benson Idahosa University their first choice for their children, Goubadia also said, “BIU is an opportune choice for the education of your children as you see and relish now.

” Here, we put our students first, despite the many wider societal-triggered challenges, provide them with excellent student experience in which we ensure they are well catered for, utilize our state-of-the-art facilities, and are taught by highly qualified faculty.

The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja 11 was honoured with Change Nigeria Award by the University, while Ehigie Darlington Ikponmwosa who made first class in accounting received the best student award.
