Party Chairman, Abure Dismisses Report Of Rift In Labour Party

The National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Barr Julius Abure, has refuted reports of a rift in the top echelon of the party.

The national chairman was reacting to a claim by the National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Arabambi Abayomi, that the list of the party’s campaign council members published Wednesday was false.

Abure, in a hasty statement after a press conference by the newly formed presidential campaign organisation, urged the public to “Kindly disregard the statement as it does not emanate from the leadership of the party.”

LP in Abuja unveiled a 1234-member presidential campaign organisation headed by the Director General, Doyin Okupe.

But Abayomi while responding to a reporter’s question said, “We are not involved in Dr. Okupe’s mischievous political shenanigans.”

In his statement, the National Publicity Secretary explained, “My attention has been drawn to a short reaction by our National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Arabambi Abayomi while responding to a reporter’s inquiry via WhatsApp wherein he said “We are not involved in Dr. Okupe’s mischievous political shenanigans.”

“It is important to let our esteemed friends of the media know that the leadership of the party fully endorsed the media outing of Peter Obi’s campaign council. The party was fully consulted and was fully represented by a good number of our National Working Committee led by the National Secretary.

“There is therefore no rift between the party and the presidential campaign council as it’s being speculated in some quarters. Kindly disregard such fake stories as it is an image of our political traducers.

Both the party and the PCC are united in enthroning a leadership that will salvage the nation and restores the lost glory of our Fatherland.”
