Katsina Donates 50 Hectres Of Land To FMH For Conversation Of Daura Hospital To Federal Medical Centre

Katsina State Government has donated a  Hectares of land to the Federal Ministry of Health for the expansion and conversion of the Daura General Hospital to the status of a Federal Medical Centre.

Alhaji Muntari Lawal, the Secretary to the Katsina State Government, disclosed this when he received members of the Committee on Facility Assessment for the conversion of General Hospital, Daura to a Federal Medical Centre from the Federal Ministry of Health on a courtesy call in his office.

Lawal directed the State Ministry of Health to liaise with the Ministry of Lands and Survey to immediately commence the demarcation of the land in Daura and the process of the issuance of the Cea Certificate of Occupancy to the Federal Ministry of Health.

According to him, the Government is committed to ensuring the smooth and successful upgrading of the General Hospital to the status of a Federal Medical Centre.

He said the state Governor, Aminu Bello Masari’s administration attaches priority to some key sectors of which health is one of
them because of the direct services rendered to the people, especially at the grassroots

Hassan Sallau, the Team Leader and Director Huof of man Resource Management of the Federal Ministry of Health, earlier told the SGS that, they were in
Katsina to Assess Facilities at the General Hospital Daura, which has always been the first stage of the conversion of any General Hospital to the status of a Federal Medical Centre.

He explained that the assessment was in three areas which include infrastructure, equipment and human resource revealing that while at the Daura hospital, the Team discovered that the premises cannot accommodate the needed structures that will be erected to make the facility a full-fledged Medical Centre.

Sallau h, however, said that they were pleased on visiting the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk who directed the State Commissioner for Health to lead them to inspect a virgin 50 hectares of land which was found to be very suitable for the project.

He said that the Federal Ministry of Health is ready to embark on the project as soon as the required process of handing and taking over the land is completed.

Meanwhile, the Team Leader added that the Ministry will start using the existing structures at the General Hospital to commence the provision of services at the Medical Centre in Daura.

It would be recalled that the Federal Government had approved the conversion of General Hospital Daura to Medical Centre following the conversion of the Federal Medical Centre Katsina to a Teaching Hospital.
