Alhaji Nura Sani Kangiwa, the Director-General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) has been awarded a friendship laurel by the Embassy of China in Nigeria.
A letter of award conferment signed by Li Xuda, the Chinese Embassy Cultural Counsellor in Nigeria, said that Kangiwa was singled out for his valuable contributions to Chinese, Nigeria relationship dating over five decades.
A statement by NIHOTOUR stated that the award investiture took place in Abuja earlier in the week and was attended by the Chinese community, Nigerians and Chinese Embassy leadership.
Just about a month ago, Kangiwa was awarded the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria, (FTAN) tourism award, Turakin Kebbi.
In an acceptance speech, Kangiwa said the Chinese diadem would encourage him to continue to explore more opportunities in which both countries can grow bilateral, cultural, tourism, education, particularly in areas of gastronomic research and documentation.
”NIHOTOUR under my watch will continue to sustain our relationship with the Chinese community in Nigeria and since food bears a universal friendship message and understanding, we shall endeavour to encourage a research and documentation exchange programme between Nigeria and China, with the hope of encouraging each other to appreciate the richness of our food culture and in so doing, grow the Culinary visits between us.’
