In its efforts to ensure peaceful and rancor-free polls at the forthcoming 2023 general elections, The Abrahamic Mission, a non-government organization of Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society, a faith-based organisation, will hold an inter-faith peace summit in Ibadan.
Part of the aims of the program according to the organiser is to bring diverse people to the discussion table on issues bordering on the peaceful prosecution of the 2023 general elections.
The event had in attendant some party chieftains, Department of State Services (DSS), The Nigeria Police, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials, The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and some other faith-based communities as discussants.
Speaking with journalists, shortly after the first season, Imam Fuad Adeyemi, the National Chief Imam of Al Habibiyyah Society said we are here today to discuss the tips on the 2023 elections and this means the inter-faith summit on 2023 elections.
This means that all the major stakeholders need to come together and see what we are going to do to ourselves to ensure that we have peaceful elections.
He further said that “We know that Nigeria is highly a religious country, and if you want to achieve success in anything, you need to pass through religious houses, so that is why we are bringing the inter-faith, the Muslim, Christians and other religious bodies together.”
