Sanwo-Olu Says Tinubu Has What It Takes To Make Nigeria Great

Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State Governor has said that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has what it takes to make Nigeria great again if given the chance in the forthcoming general elections.

Sanwo-Olu who was represented by Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, his Deputy stated this on Thursday while speaking as the Principal Guest at the Council of Chief Imams and Ulamas (Lagos State) Special Prayer Session towards a Hitch-Free 2023 General Election in Lagos State and the Nation at large at Lagos Central Mosque, Lagos Island, Lagos.

He said that based on his experiences and capacity Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has what it takes in terms of networking, knowing people, in terms of what he has done in the private and public sectors and the number of people across the country that he has interacted with; that he is the best candidate for the country in 2023.

“We are promising that given the experience of Asiwaju Tinubu, given what he has done in Lagos, given what Sanwo-Olu is doing in Lagos; we believe that if he becomes the president of this country, our story can only be positive.

“The most important thing is that we must have peace in our country, fight insurgency because without peace we cannot achieve anything, so Asiwaju in his manifesto has come to say that we must have peace and therefore the bottom line is that Nigeria must do whatever they have to do to have peace and grow our economy.

“If everybody says that we are a very rich country, yes we have the potential to be rich, but we are not there yet, we need to grow the economy and develop the people, basically eliminating poverty; growing the economy and giving us security in the country, if we have that, the sky is the limit.

He urged everyone to come out to vote on Election Day stating that in the 2019 general election only, 29 percent of people in Lagos voted while other states like Kano recorded 56 percent.

“We too must get involved, we must support our own that can do it, and we must tell our congregations. We need a President that is bold and brilliant, we need a person that will be able to do well and speak the truth. Tinubu has listening ears. We should all come out to elect the right person which to me is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, so everybody needs to come out and perform their civic duties,” he added.

Dr. Lukmon Adedeji, the guest speaker while giving his lecture said the first duty of the Imams is to pray which they have done, but he said that prayer alone is not enough as they need to educate their congregations to use their PVCs to vote wisely during the elections.

He called on politicians who are vying for positions not to do what is on their minds but to do the will of God in all they do and also keep all the promises they made to the electorates during their electioneering campaigns.

“You must keep your promises and do the right things at all times, always speak the truth, and don’t lie to the people because if you leave people will talk about what you have done and what you ought to do and you did not do.”

He also charged the Chief Imams to talk to their congregations to come out en masse to vote on Election Day and not stay at home watching television.

Alhaji Morufudeen Shittu, General Secretary, Council of Chief Imams and Ulamas of Lagos State earlier in his opening remarks, stated that the special prayer session started twenty-one days ago, held every Thursday; 17th, 24th and concluded on the 1st of December with the sole objective of seeking the face of the Almighty Allah for peace during and after the 2023 general election in the country.
